The Chevrolet Equinox was redesigned for the 2010 model year, and the GMC Terrain was introduced in the 2010 model year. Beginning with 2014 models, the front structure and door hinge pillar were modified to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes.

The driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior of 10 cm at the lower hinge pillar. Upper interior intrusion measured 5-6 cm at the upper hinge pillar and instrument panel.
